Shortly after The Pony Silver League 138cm & Under Final followed, the title went to Colchester-based Hollie Gerken riding the 7-year-old mare Little Emerald, achieving an impressive time of 27.84 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than second place in the jump off this afternoon. “The round went really well, I managed to jump number two in seven strides before the tight turn at three before I reached the double. I’m so pleased I went clear! We’ve recently stepped up to HOYS qualifier level and she’s been jumping amazingly well. I couldn’t be happier! For the rest of the season I’ve got a few nearby shows to Colchester before giving the pony some well deserved time off!” Hollie commented.
Over in the first arena Herefordshire-based Jasmine Willis and Rosegate Gisele conquered the Pony British Novice Championship in the Tack & Tailor Championship Arena 1 with a competitive first round against 97 other competitors grabbing the title with a fantastic clear round of 22.79 seconds, 2.4 seconds faster than Ruby Anna Birchenough in second place. Jasmine commented “I had mixed nerves going into the arena, it was a very fast round! Our season has been great so far, she’s been doing the 138 HOYS qualifiers and been doing well. For the rest of the season, I’m going to keep practicing at the same heights and try again at Newcomers next year.”
In the UNIBED Championship Arena 2 was the Stepping Stones 128cm Championship Final, claiming victory for the second time this week was Isla Brown riding Kilcranathan Princess. Isla commented, “This round she was a little stronger than previous rounds. After winning a championship yesterday, it made me want to go for the two! I couldn’t be happier I’m going home with two first places’’
Finishing up the last class of the day was the Blue Chip Newcomers Masters in the Tack & Tailor Championship Arena 1, with Michael Mccolm and Legend Scais taking the title. When asked about their round, Michael said, “it was a bit slower in the first round, but the second round it opened up. I didn’t know if I should go for it or just go for the clear, but I decided kick on and go forward in the end.”
Rounding out the rainy day in the UNIBED Championship Arena 2 was Jasmine Wilis and Reifals Surprise winning the Stepping Stones 138cm Championship Final. Jasmine has had a successful season so far, taking her second championship of the day. She has also qualified for HOYS as part of the North Hereford team in the Pony Club Mounted Games later in the year! Jasmine commented, “we came here last year for the Stepping Stones and came second by 0.02 seconds. So to come back and try again is incredible! Just to win once is amazing and it made this round that much more fun.”
